fabrik Potsdam is a space for contemporary dance, artistic research, and community engagement. We bring together artistic practice, local exchange, international perspectives, and shared learning. Our goal is to create spaces where different dance cultures and life experiences come together, and where openness, curiosity, respect, and mutual support are actively practiced.
In our studios, on our stages, and in public spaces, artists, staff, partners, and visitors come together to experience, reflect, discuss, and spend time with one another. We see different opinions and disagreements as a natural part of living and working together in an open and democratic way. In doing so, we share responsibility for how we treat one another.
We aim to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected, and safe. A space free from discrimination is a goal we are working toward. We are committed to making our spaces as safe and accessible as possible for everyone.
We recognize that people have different experiences and do not all have the same opportunities, visibility, safety, or access to participation.
We recognize these inequalities and work to make our practices fairer and more sensitive to discrimination.
fabrik Potsdam does not tolerate discriminatory, abusive, or degrading behavior. This includes, in particular, harassment, boundary violations, violence, and abuse of power — both on-site and in digital spaces.
Discrimination includes any form of exclusion, disadvantage, or devaluation, particularly on the basis of ethnicity, skin color, age, religion or worldview, disability, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
We also do not tolerate discrimination against people who address or report discriminatory behavior or abuse of power.
All participants — artists, staff, partners, audience members, and all contractually affiliated individuals — acknowledge this Code of Conduct and commit to following it in all activities at fabrik Potsdam.
How we deal with incidents
We follow a survivor-centered approach. This means we believe people who report harm and take their experiences seriously. Together with them, we decide on steps that help prevent further harm to them and others, while avoiding additional pressure or burden.
The fabrik organization takes responsibility for addressing discriminatory, abusive, or degrading incidents. It ensures transparent processes and clear responsibilities.
When dealing with perpetrators, we assess appropriate measures on a case-by-case basis. These can include clarifying conversations, conditions for continued participation, collaboration with external organizations that support accountability and behavioral change, or exclusion from activities and spaces.
The goal is to prevent further harm, ensure accountability, and support change where possible.
