In WARTEN, a crackling mackintosh, a lightning bow and a trolley case as well as 30 metres of industrial zip find their uses. At the centre of the action – a station bench with a two-metre-long clock pendulum hanging above it. Waiting is a fundamental human experience. In her new performance, Maren Strack shows four different states, from waiting in silence to the nervous frenzy of indefinite waiting. Waiting in silence stimulates hearing, and Maren Strack explores this state in delicate sound images – then again the indefinite hectic waiting leads to exploding fits of choreography. Maren Strack's performances are known for their use of different everyday materials. The material is tested for its sonic usability and helps determine the course of the performance.
