Three young choreographers present short dance pieces that all focus on the body in a state of emergency.
Bodies in resistance
Felipe Fizkal (Berlin/Santiago de Chile)
What happens to our bodies when we have to leave our homes? Bodies in Resistance moves between reality and dance fiction and invites us to reflect on the global immigration crisis that Felipe Fizkal and his team were able to observe on site. This choreographic investigation analyses the evolution of the biological and physical resistance of bodies in exodus around the planet, leaving their homes due to wars, dictatorships and climatic events. A piece that focuses on the decentralisation of contemporary dance discourses and invites the regional audience to become part of the questions and reflections.
Felipe Fizkal was Artist in Residence in Cottbus as part of DiR - Dance in Residence Brandenburg.
Ein Körper
Melissa Herrada / Cuatro X Cuatro (Berlin)
In her solo Ein Körper, Melissa Herrada examines the power of the body. One body is enough, one body makes a difference. One body is the intuition of a moment, it is a process that, through choreography, attempts to reveal the sensitive possibility of the present, an intimate and anonymous present that wants to become poetic and political. Only a body that recognises the immensity of the present will be enough to make a difference ... in the world.
Melissa Herrada was Artist in Residence at the fabrik Potsdam.
Vergötterung
Yasmin Schönmann (Stolzenhagen/Berlin)
What happens when people have too much power over us? Do we follow them without thinking, or do we start to rebel at some point? Vergötterung (Idolisation) is about the downward spiral you can fall into if you blindly follow someone without asking questions. The piece shows the process of blind admiration for someone who gradually takes over your life. The main character gradually finds herself in a web that is spun tighter and tighter by her idol. Thus begins a struggle for control and independence between the two characters.
Yasmin Schönmann was Artist in Residence at the fabrik Potsdam as part of Tanz Weit Draußen.
