Since 1991, the Potsdam Dance Festival has established itself as an outstanding international artistic highlight in Potsdam and is one of the largest performing arts festivals in the state of Brandenburg. Every year, the festival invites dance companies from all over the world to Potsdam and thus offers an internationally top-class spectrum of different dance theatre forms. For twelve days, the state capital of Brandenburg becomes a stage for the international dance scene.
The performances form the core of the festival: solo works and large ensembles, narrative dance theatre and pure movement, pieces for children and unusual performances alternate in a rich programme. The aim is to present the diversity of the current international dance scene, which is characterised by its high level of creativity. A special focus of the festival is the proximity between the audience and the artists. The workshops, which are aimed at interested amateurs and professional dancers, and the audience discussions, which encourage dialogue with the choreographers and the audience after the performances, are therefore an integral part of the festival. Concerts, dance films, installations and DJs complete the programme and invite you to linger in Schiffbauergasse.
