The JazzLab is building a bridge to the younger generation at the Jazzoffensive jazz festival. Dancer/choreographer Naïma Mazic focuses on polyrhythmic communications between dancers and (jazz) musicians. Together with percussionist Evi Fillippou, Naïma is sharing methods and ideas in a workshop with the JugendTanzCompany, asking, for example, how a pulse can be shared by everyone. Attuning to bodies and sounds and inviting rhythmical tools and structural elements of jazz music into dance, a lively and playful space / instant choreography is created for the opening of the Jazzoffensive. Based on a shared score, the dancers of the JugendTanzCompany are improvising together live with musician Evi Filippou on drums and vibraphone.
