Chiang-Mei Wang interweaves modern dance and Tai-Chi Dao Yin in The Floating Body. She combines modern dance techniques from Graham, Limón and Cunningham with elements of Tai-Chi Dao-Yin, a special Tai-Chi style in which body energy manifests itself in spiraling, wave-like movements. The power of the movement arises from the interplay of tension and relaxation and is based on a stable body center. The movements resemble swimming in space. The body itself becomes like the water: sometimes still, sometimes gently undulating, sometimes foaming up like the waves of the sea. Everything is moved by inner energy, known in Chinese as 'chi'.
Chiang-Mei Wang offers the complementary workshop Tai Chi Dao Yin.
